I am a Professional Athlete

Many pro athletes earn in a single year what the average worker may see in several years or even a lifetime. Additionally, it’s not helpful that athletes tend to be young, having little experience with money when they come into all of this wealth.

So what do you do?

First, and foremost, create a strategy.

If you map out the life ahead of you and prepare for the unexpected, I believe you will have a good start.

Pay yourself first and take care of important obligations before you spend money on wanted luxuries.

Some issues you will likely face:

  • Taxation on a short term high income. Playing games on the road in various states can complicate things even more
  • Signing bonuses, endorsements, appearance fees and other income hits
  • Managing relationships with family and friends and potentially feeling like you have an obligation to “give back” to those who are part of your success

If any of the above applies to you, or if you are concerned about your future and finances, then maybe we should talk.
